What makes your harnesses different from what I'd find at a pet store?
Our harnesses use a honeycomb-textured waterproof material that's durable for outdoor use but comfortable enough for longer wear. The secure fit is designed specifically for cats (not small dogs), so there's less chance of escape. We've also added reflective fabric that improves your cat's visibility during both daytime and nighttime adventures.
Can cats escape from your harness?
Keep in mind that no harness is truly escape proof. Anyone claiming otherwise is misrepresenting themselves. Our harness is designed with escape prevention as a priority. The snug, adjustable fit and cat-specific construction minimize the wiggle-out risk that's common with generic pet store harnesses. That said, proper fitting is essential — we include a measuring guide and you can always reach out if you need help finding the right adjustment for your cat.
Is the harness comfortable for longer adventures?
Yes. The honeycomb texture allows airflow while the waterproof material protects against moisture from grass, puddles, or light rain. Cats can wear it comfortably for extended outings once they've completed indoor desensitization training.
Why waterproof material?
Adventure happens in all conditions. Wet grass, morning dew, surprise drizzle — a waterproof harness means your cat stays comfortable and the gear dries quickly rather than staying damp and heavy.
WHY WE DO THIS DIFFERENTLY
I didn't start this because I loved gear.
I started it because I was scared of getting it wrong.
My cats spent hours pressed against the window, watching a world I wasn't sure I should let them into. I wanted to give them more. But every time I got close, the same question stopped me:
What if I think I'm doing this right and I'm not?
Most brands I found had the same answer: just try it, your cat will love it.
That wasn't good enough for me.
So I went slowly. I researched. I watched. I learned to read the signals that tell you when to keep going and when stopping is actually the right call.
Everything at Kitty Kingdom comes from that place.
